Dr. Luis Simón has recently obtained his PhD at Royal Holloway, University of London. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for European Studies (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) and coordinates the security and defense panel at Fundación Alternativas in Madrid. In 2009 he was a Visiting Fellow at the European Union Institute for Security Studies, where he published an occasional paper on the planning aspects of EU military operations. He has been a guest researcher at the Royal United Services Institute (London), the Center for Transatlantic Relations (Washington DC), the Fondation pour la Recherche Stratégique (Paris) and the European Policy Centre (Brussels).
